谢晓泽 XIE XIAOZE

谢晓泽，国际知名艺术家和艺术教育家，现任美国斯坦福大学艺术和艺术史系终身教授，Wattis 讲席教授。1988 年从清华大学建筑系毕业后放弃建筑，转向绘画；1991 年获中央工艺美术学院硕士学位。1992 年赴美，1996 年获北德克萨斯大学视觉艺术学院美术硕士学位。

Xia Ze Xie is an internationally‑renowned artist and art educator. He currently serves as tenured Professor and Wattis Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at Stanford University in the United States. After graduating from the Department of Architecture at Tsinghua University in 1988, he abandoned architecture and turned to painting. He earned his master’s degree from the Central Academy of Arts and Design in 1991. He went to the United States in 1992 and received his Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, University of North Texas in 1996.

Xie’s paintings integrate elements of conceptual art, narrative art and photorealism. Taking books and newspapers as his subject‑matter, he explores the incompleteness and transience of history and memory through a unique perspective. He also investigates related themes across diverse media including installation, video and photography. He has held nearly 50 solo exhibitions in museums and galleries worldwide in cities such as New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul and Ghent, Belgium. His mid‑career retrospective Xia Ze Xie: Magnified Moments 1993‑2008 toured four museums across the United States from 2010 to 2012. His works have been featured in numerous significant group exhibitions including the inaugural Anren Biennale (2018), Nanjing International Art Exhibition (2016), and Xinjiang Biennale (2014). Together with Dan Mills, he co‑curated and participated in Regeneration: Contemporary Chinese Art from China and the United States, which toured nine venues throughout the United States from 2004 to 2006 and garnered wide‑ranging influence. Since 2015, Xia Ze Xie has served on the Exhibitions and Publications Committee of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.

作品被诸多艺术和文化教育机构收藏，包括休士顿美术馆、斯科特斯戴尔当代艺术馆、圣荷西美术馆、奥克兰加利福尼亚博物馆、博伊西美术馆、亚里桑那州立大学艺术馆等。曾应邀为美国政府 “建筑中的艺术” 项目爱荷华州达文波市法院大楼创作大型公共绘画。

His works are collected by many art, cultural and educational institutions, among them the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art; San Jose Museum of Art; Oakland Museum of California; Boise Art Museum; and the Arizona State University Art Museum. He was commissioned to create a large‑scale public painting for the Davenport Courthouse in Iowa under the United States federal government’s Art‑in‑Architecture program.
